CRITICAL APPLICATIONS DEMAND ADVANCED SOLUTIONS - The FAA is recognized for using the best available technology in the most demanding and critical applications. This includes the power infrastructure used to support air traffic controllers. The switching of power from primary to back-up sources has to occur in the exact sequence and within specific time constraints to prevent any interruption of service. The FAA is using the AMETEK SERNET system to monitor this power infrastructure with its ability to capture critical alarms to 1msec precision in the sequence they occur.
ALARM MANAGEMENT REDEFINED - The SERNET is an ideal fit as it monitors the power distribution switchgear with 1 msec timestamping and relays the information through open protocols like Modbus TCP/IP and BACnet to Software Platforms used to monitor all operations. The SERNET has redundant power supplies that operate from different power sources and has multiple communication ports for duplication of data outputs. Each SERNET can monitor up to 48 digital inputs, or several units can be networked together to form a system with a single communication output. Remote alarm notification is provided anytime, anywhere with a web browser display of present and past alarms.
