WILMINGTON, Mass. U.S.A.—AMETEK Power Instruments – the leader in gas turbine sensor systems – has designed an Individual EGT Probe System for low-cost retrofit on LM2500 and LM5000 gas turbines from GE Aircraft Engines (GE part # L44830P01, Power Instruments’ part #8TC34BAG1).

The Individual EGT System combines individual thermocouples that are mated to a flexible harness assembly, eliminating the need for rigid harness systems.  Operators and overhaul facilities can replace a single probe without removing a full harness quadrant or affecting other serviceable system components, resulting in lower maintenance and component replacement costs and shorter turbine downtimes.

The AMETEK system incorporates a combination of AMETEK thermocouple designs currently qualified and operating on production gas turbines.  The probe design is identical to those presently operating on production units of the LM2500 and LM5000 gas turbines while the junction box is currently used for LM6000 EGT probes. AMETEK Individual Probe Systems have accumulated over 250,000 hours of trouble-free operation since entering field service in October 1993.
